What’s Happening at Awakening!

    • Awakening Worship – Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.; prayer and Communion at 6:00 p.m. before worship. Usually in the Chapel of Memories; sometimes in the Colvard Union.

    • Home Groups -Intergenerational small groups for Bible study and community led by students and hosted by local church folks.

    • House Worship – Prayer, worship, and community in a casual setting at the Griffiths’ home about every two weeks.

    • Discipleship Bands – Micro-communities meeting weekly for spiritual encouragement, support, and accountability.

    • Lunch Hangouts – On-campus times for students to meet up with ACF staff.

  • In Awakening’s first year at MSU, 150 to 200 students have participated in our various ministries. The average attendance at weekly Awakening Worship is 65-70. Forty students meet weekly for Home Groups. Forty students and 10 hosts participate in our Home Groups. Attendance at House Worship ranges from 25 to 50. Twenty-five students serve on our WakeUp Crew – the student leadership team.

  • ACF at Mississippi State has six distinct core commitments:

    1. Relational discipleship – Hospitality, community, belonging, social holiness (good things happen in groups), intergenerational home groups, house worship, fellowship, bands, investing in leaders…  Awakening happens at the pace of friendship.

    2. Presence of God – Cultivating awareness and experience of the presence of God; seeking of the presence of God through worship, prayer, Communion before worship, house worship…

    3. Formed by Scripture – Transformation over information – biblical preaching and teaching, Bible study in home groups.

    4. Leadership – Building capacity for leadership in students in a culture of calling; handing over ownership and real responsibility to students through the student leadership team, worship leading, student internship, missions. If they don’t lead, they’ll leave.

    5. Campus, Kingdom, & Church – Called to the campus, committed to the Kingdom, and connected to the local church.

    6. Awakening – Hungering for more of God; hungering for a supernatural movement of the Holy Spirit on college campuses. Becoming fully awakened to the presence, power, and purposes of God.

  • Along with ACF’s regular ministries, we value student leadership, prayer, fun and fellowship, and missions – all part of our culture of discipleship.

Awakening Collegiate Fellowship at MSU stirs awakening among students at Mississippi State by creating a culture of discipleship and helping students live wide awake to the goodness of following Jesus. As an ACF chapter, our core convictions are relational discipleship, the presence of God, formation by Scripture, leadership, and a three-way commitment to the campus, the Kingdom, and the Church. We want to see students; hearts awakened to the presence, power, and purposes of God!

Planting a new campus ministry is an opportunity to create a culture in which students grow and thrive in following Jesus. Awakening to the goodness of God leads to encountering Jesus like never before, and that encounter leads to changed lives, and when the life of a college student is changed, the world is changed.
